A week's stay at the Farndon
Reply #32 on : Mon February 11, 2013, 03:16:48
I stayed at the Farndon from Sunday through to Thursday and was very impressed at the quality of the room and also the dining. Breakfast was tasty every morning and the dinners available downstairs were truly scrumptious. The staff were very pleasant and helpful throughou. The village and surrounds are lovely, and it's juat a short walk over the border/the Dee to Holt in Wales. An ideal place to spend time in the North West.

We had been out and about when we popped into The Farndon. It was warm and welcoming with the logfire burning brightly. I won the toss for a drink and enjoyed a refreshing white wine and soda.
We both selected fish I had the monkfish special fab u lous and John the fish and chips very enjoyable. Yvonne always makes you very welcome and we finished off with coffee by the fire side.

The Farndon is our local & the food here is consistently excellent - more than good enough to compete with the restaurants and pubs of Chester & Cheshire. Yvonne & the team have created a very relaxing atmosphere & the warmth of their hospitality is extended to regulars and new comers alike. Highly recommended.

I have recently had a meal at the Farndon. Although the food and service was amazing Rachel served us at the table and was lovely and so helpful. The young man on the bar was really nice and when asked about wines he was knowledgeable. The Food service is a little old fashioned. The pub its self is nice, clean and modern. I had a pie and it was really nice BUT it came on plate with a doily on it, My chips and veg came on another plate with a doily, also when the bill came guess what a doily showed up. Its a shame that the venue, food and hospitality service is so good but i feel some parts are stuck in the 80s/90s!

We booked The Farndon to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. We had circa 60 guests for fun and a hotpot supper in The Balcony Suite. A wonderful time was had by all. The staff were friendly and helpful, I'm physically disabled and they couldn't have been more helpful. The hotpot was delicious, served with home made crusty bread, and a vegetarian option too.
A splendid night finished in the early hours then 18 of us we were back again for lunch at midday the next day.
Ordered from the a la carte menu lunch was again delicious, all served together, hot and very enjoyable.
Thank you everyone at The Farndon for a brilliant weekend.

Visited here twice for evening meals whilst staying at nearby Carden Park - the food for all 3 of us could not be faulted , the white chocolate cheesecake being a favourite . Friendly staff and very pleasant surroundings - only a few hundred yards detour off the A534 - well worth it.

We stayed in The Farndon, July 2011.
The new owners have done themselves proud with excellent quality and value for money food, together with a warm and friendly welcome.
If you are staying in the area, stay here, you will not be dissappointed.
